Congratulations to Captain Tim Klein for guiding Carl Hiaassen in their 5th victory of The Islamorada Invitational Fall Fly Bonefish Tournament! Carl & Tim weighed in and released 3 bonefish over 8 pounds, the largest being 10 pounds 4 ounces. They released 8 bonefish under 8 pounds during the 3 day event as well. Tim Mahaffey guided by Duane Baker were the runner up team. Extreme high tides made for some difficult bonefishing, but half a dozen permit were caught because of the big water.
Flip Pallot guided by George Hommell won the first Islamorada Invitational Fall Fly Bonefish Tournament in 1975. The 34 year old event was cancelled in 1999 for Hurricane Floyd and again in 2005 during Hurricane Katrina.
Tim and Captain Steve Huff have now guided anglers to seven wins each. Carl Hiaassen has now won the tournament five times as has yours truly, moi! Congradulations again guys, its among the toughest fields of competitve guides and anglers on the planet!
Tight Loops,
Sandy Moret
